Something that would annoying about groups is spamming and unrelated posts.
Dhanasekar already mention that.
Idea: If there is a report button on each post, then members could report unrelated posts.
then you can suspend those members who have a post with 10 or 20 report for a month from reaching that group, and delete reported posts.
If you find a way to prevent spamming, groups would be great otherwise members would leave groups after a while!!!
Sorry
I haven't seen report button on top right!!!
But still suspension is an option, and i think people who join a groups must be aware of that
I cant make new posts on a discussion. It's all replies and comments to first post.
Wouldn't be better if posts and comments were separated?
There is group for rendering and there is a discussion called "Welcome and Post Your Best Render"
If 5 members upload their renders and 15 members comment on that renders in an existing discussion, I can’t comment on older comments or ask question about it. probably the member who posted it won’t see my question and I have to mention that I'm asking a question about which comment!!!
So do I have to make a discussion each time I want to upload a render?!
Hi Pourya,
We are currently working on functionality to allow quoting an earlier post.
links to users do not appear to showing correctly. it would be nice to be able to mention someone using @'user name' and that user would be notified they were mentioned in a comment and other users could click on the name and be lined to the user profile.
This post has gotten quit a few replies, so it works as a good example.
What does everyone think about having posts run backwards?
I suppose it is one of those items that will 50/50 split, but it takes a long time to scroll to the bottom of this page to find the latest post. Of course it will just keep getting longer and longer as time passes.
It might be worth a test to see if having new posts stay on the top is viable, or even worse.
I like the idea of using the @mention instead having to paste in a user url, in a way the @mentioned user is notified, and is a hyperlink.
No, you can't delete messages from inbox currently. We haven't had a chance to update the inbox functionality for a long time, but when we do, delete sounds a good addition.
Thanks for your feedback
Hello @Mikk
So I was just wondering. Is it possible that the group admin/owner could be able to manually adjust the arrangement of the topics that are listed on the group. Like a drag to arrangement kind of thing.
I just feel like maybe I'd have a preference of it's sequence so that the interest of the (new) members don't fade easily once they clicked to the discussion list.
Let me know please.
Thanks! :)
Currently all the topics are ordered by activity.
If someone posts in a topic, it will pop up to the top of the list.
When somebody leaves a comment and I want to reply, I would like to see my reply shows under that comment for easy tracking of the conversation.
I think it could be a better user experience if new posts were on top. now that this thread as moved past page 1 you need to go to the bottom and last page to see the most recent items.
This is a complicated problem. If the new messages are on top it isn't a discussion anymore and users would have to read everything backwards.
Is there a way to tell where the conversation was the last time someone was in a group reading? This way when a user comes back to the conversation they are brought to the location where they left off? I.e. when I came to look at your replay, it brought me to the top of page 1 and it took a while to figure out where I was and where I needed to go. I can also see when a group has been around a while there could be a multitude of branches and discussions going and it could be hard to find where you want to be.
In the notification emails about new posts you can either click the discussion name that takes you to the beginning of the discussion or you can click the big red button "view discussion" or "view reply" and that takes you directly to the new post.
We are looking into how to make navigation easier in long discussions
If I want to go back (browser-back-button), I need to click twice! Would be nice, if one click was enough.
This is for FF 59.0.2.
Edit:
Nevermind!! --> https://grabcad.com/groups/test-groups-and-give-feedback-here/discussions/multiple-presses-of-the-back-button-needed
I have not read through the entire discussion yet, but I thought a Tagging feature would be good.
Continuous scroll ... so I don't have to click through pages. Also, search in browser will work.
Remove all CAPS from all the titles. This is unbearable.
div { text-transform:capitalize;}Thanks for the feedback.
Why we have pagination instead of the continuous scroll is because the threads can get really long and it can take time to load the full thread and scroll to the end if you want to see the latest post.
I will look into the all caps situation.

Hi,
Will anybody be interested like myself of if we can get a sub-admin feature?
I'm really hoping this can happen.
Just so if the owner of the group is somehow unavailable at a certain period, someone could take over for him/her until he/she is back in action.
What functionality would you expect this sub-admin to have?
It would be nice to have the option to create collections or categories inside each group.
Example: "Solidworks Design & Help" group has at least 3 discussions labeled "sheet metal". It would be nice to be able to put these all under a category called Sheet Metal so someone looking for information on the topic could easily find all discussion related to that topic.
It would also be nice to have a button at the top of each page that goes to last created post
New changes in user interface is pretty strange, to be polite. I can not find information about overall download of all models, that was previously can be seen. Can you please give it back?
Thanks for your feedback Darko! The total number of downloads is indeed missing and was removed to make the page load faster. We might consider adding it back if enough people request it. What else can be improved?
I had not even noticed the download count was missing from the model pages. It is still available from your main model page. Under each project it shows a count for Likes, Downloads, and Comments. See the green highlight in the attached image:
For me, information about overall download of models for a specific person is more useful information then GrabCAD Score. :-) After all, you advertise new changes as a way to better evaluate engineer based on their work here and then you cut off one useful information about their work. And yes, it has individual count for every single model, but not the sum. Maybe I am old fashioned, but I like original interface much more then this. The one that was before last two changes (if I count well, there was two changes in last few days).
Hi Darko,
We are improving the total download count. It will be added to the new profile in next couple of weeks.
I understand that everything new takes time to get used to. We are working hard to improve the functionality to make GrabCAD easier to use for all our 5 million users and any feedback is needed.
It might not show at the first glance, but the new profile design improves on the old functionality and introduces new features.
You can read more about it in the GrabCAD Community group discussion here:
