Plastic Products and Mold Design

Depends upon your requirement, if you require only few objects than molding in not suggested as tooling cost for molding is very high, you can rather go for 3D printing as they give comparable results & it is a simple process. Now, if you're going to sell your product and you are confident enough to make-out the money from it, then molding is the best option, since after reaching break even point, profits are very high when compared to 3D printing.

If you have any to use other material than plastic, than I would suggest you to go foe sheet-metal !, it is easy and reliable.

it cost some money to start a new tooling. So for concept/study/test, it might be better to just 3D-print them.

For small projects, there are some enclosures supplied in the open market you can utilize.

Most enclosure are made by ABS/PC/NYLON/PS/POM

With a small CNC, you can make your own cavity sets in Aluminium an use a small machine like that

for prototyping it's better to make your pieces as a 3D printer.

But the realization of plastic plugs requires a good design of the piece, the known material is polypropylene (5) a very good design and realization of the mold with steels of very good quality C45 for the base of the mold and the 35ncd 16 or the 34nc6 (steel has 110 kg mini.) especially to ensure a good cooling of the prints; the cost is very expensive.
