Plastic Products and Mold Design

Hi All,

I am designing a plastic air filter housing for a motorcycle, which comprises of a sealing face and filter support cage (see picture), a foam filter and a plastic ring to clamp the foam in place. The clamp will be held in place by 2 locator tabs and a screw, I'm thinking of using a self tapping screw straight into the pre-drilled plastic, do you think this is a common design concept or are there better ways to secure the clamp?

I have thought about using an imbedded nut, but that will increase production complexity.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
