This is the story of how Hobby King repeatedly ignored the FCC warnings on more than one occasion and how they landed themselves into hot water :

But if you read it carefully, the FCC has the right to go after consumers as well, especially if they are operating offending equipment that interferes with other communications.

The equipment that Hobby King was selling was not in compliance and was flagged on numerous occasions from complaints and they should have reacted swiftly to stop selling and recall all products but did nothing. This was blatantly obvious neglect on their part and are as criminal as the manufacturers.

As of last year they were ordered to pay $3 Million dollars or the Justice Department would go after them : http://www.arrl.org/news/fcc-fines-hobbyking-nearly-3-million-for-marketing-unauthorized-drone-transmitters

Its important for consumers to understand the laws of communications where ever they may be as some areas have even stiffer penalties of jail time and closure of their business entirely from seizure. This includes the buyers of such equipment that use it for their own personal business affairs which is becoming more common today.
