You have to be careful with the formats. change format if necessary
Ok. I have experimented with several formats and no luck. Can you please suggest one you know works or may have tried?
From which program to which program and in what format?
maybe i can help
I think if you are specific on what exactly you are you tyring to do i.e. if you are tring to change from say AutoCAD to Solidworks .... that makes it easier for people to help you.
SKETCHUP TO Solidworks
From SketchUp to Solidworks
You are in😊
which format you are using, I dont know sketup export ".STEP" format. if it can then try to use it. you will not face any problem for editing that model into solidworks. if its ".stl" or "obj", then you need to convert into body or surface to make any change in solidworks.
you can do it when you open mesh format there is option for converting into body or surface or open as it is in solidworks. incase you open mesh file you can use "mesh modelling" in tool bar.
but as you said in question you need this to do simulation. which type of simulation you want to do ?
The type of simulation is Static simulation
I had to design the model completely and I have been able to run my simulation
I've tried 4 file formats from SketchUp; Ifc, STL, Obj and Dxf
You can also use 3rd party software like "Cad exchanger" to convert stl or obj file into STEP and you can perform simulation in solidworks.
Thanks so much. I'll try that
