SOLIDWORKS Design & Help

I am working on a concept on how to move a heavy tub of parts and wanted to see if others have ever worked on a project like it and what solutions you came up with or seen.

Currently a forklift places a tub of parts on a roller conveyor for the operator. The operator then grabs their neighbor (if they are lucky) and they struggle to push the tub onto a roller style turn table at the end of the conveyor. We have had a few near misses due to someone slipping or twisting incorrectly. A full tub weighs approximately 4,200 pounds. It takes approximately 60 pounds of force to move it on the conveyor.

I looked into ways to motorize the conveyor and turn table, so they can basically push a button and the rollers would move the tubs. I have a quote for a chain driven conveyor, but it has a larger foot print then I have space for without significantly rearranging the work cell. Also the turntable would have to become motorized as well. That then created a working space where the operator would have reach over parts of the new conveyor which could strain their back.

I also looked into either swapping out current rollers and / or dropping in new motorized ones, in to the existing frame. I contacted 5 different manufacturers of motorized rollers and the largest capacity I found was 3,000 pounds.

I am working on method that would push the tub from the stationary conveyor on to the turn table. This would allow me to add to the current conveyor without consuming too much more space. Feel free to drop thoughts about the 2 pics below or discuss what you have done / seen.

Thanks,
