It is a cool plugin, and it can save a little time.

The only issue I found while using it was that SOLIDWORKS would release a new versions, and then Keyshot was locked out until it was updated, which could be months.

I finally gave up and just export a step file from SW for Keyshot rendering.

If changes need to be made, you just export another step file and import it to Keyshot with the Update Geometry options enables. Unless there were drastic changes, all of your work in Keyshot remains and the model is updated to show the changes done in SOLIDWORKS.

The main advantage is the process works every time. Not just when the two software releases are synchronized.

In fact it is really useful, I currently use it with the keyshot 7 version and I find the function of being able to export the motion studies and the exploited view animations useful

Very good when working....But major issues with solidworks 2018 and Keyshot 7, especially when updating geometry of assemblies.
