I have been trying to mate moving parts in an assembly such that they all work like they would in real life. The program wont let me add certain mates that logically would make it function as it should. The error message is lame, just says it is in conflict. I have two hinge points and a sliding member that moves one with respect to the other. They pivot correctly on their own, but when I link the two hinging parts together, with the extending rod, it blows up

In my model the rod of the small cylinder is supposed to extend and retract when the mold part rotates. I can rotate the mold part, I can rotate the cylinder, I can extend and retract the rod of the cylinder, but I can not link both movements together.

In the real world, I have found it necessary to allow the cylinder to rotate as I have mounted it in this model. If I fix it it binds, so in real life when it rotates things work just dandy.

In the library I posted a model "Klingon sabot mold" The small cylinder rod is not working. The rest functions as it should but the linking of the clevis to the rod blows up.

Can anyone shed some light on how I need to change my mated parts such that they will interact like expected in the real world?

This type of mate has plagued me for years to try and figure out. I hope some wise-cracker genius here will enlighten me on what Im doing wrong... as it cant be the program...

I have attempted to follow the rules here so that I get some real feed-back...

Thank you all for your time.
