can we make parts in catia and finally assemble them in solidworks. is that possible??
assmbly in catia is too cumbersome process. if we can convert the file to step and then open it in solidworks for assembly that would be a easy task...
can this be possible??

yes. but you will lose all intellegence (not parametric anymore) when you export the files to iges/step/sat files (it won't be linked back to the catia files - you will have to re-import them).
Yes as Wilhelm said, but also you loose the opportunity of top down modeling....that is one of the great features in 3D software...
Use the assembly to design new parts that are integrated with the other parts that are already in that assembly....
