Common software used by tool and die maker?

I want software which is used by die makers?

Just about every parametric modeler out there has been or is being used for die design. As for which are the most popular? Really depends but having designed progressive dies for years using Visi, NX and SWorks and working with other designers.. hearing their preferences and just general shop talk... I'm going to go with anything that has integrated die design toolsets. Things to look for might be, parametric component libraries, analysis and bend study tools, strip design and shearing simulation, blank development, formability validation, etc, etc...

I don't know enough about Catia but if you're familiar with it, you may look into what it offers.

Visi is probably one of the best in the industry for large/complex designs. Has a really strong standing as a die specific software package for obvious reasons. If you look a bit more into it, you'll quickly understand why. NX also has integrated tool sets for design and validation and the fact that NX is really strong in top-down assembly design technique, makes it a very versatile tool. If I were starting a die shop, either of those would be my top picks.
