how do i download files and use them?

Very simple.....look for Inventor models, open your software, just hit the download button and model will open.......
But take in account a few rules....
01. CAD model must be openenable with your software
02. Beware for the "future version" (older software does not open newer models)
03. STEP,IGES,SAT, etc, can also be opened by inventor software , but you will loose all properties, such as mates, material and appreances....you have to rebuild..
