How do you make new parts when in an assemble

Hi,

I've seen people make their life so much easier by creating parts in an assembly.
But when I try it, it makes a new part in a different window for me using a different workbench.
Also when you make new parts in the assembly can you make certain parts disappear so you can draft one part at a time?

I've got until 8pm UK time to add a cockpit, wings and a tail to my fuselage and I'm losing faith quick xD

Accepted answer

While in the Assembly workbench, use the INSERT menu to add a NEW PART to the existing assembly.

When drafting an assembly, use a SCENE or OVERLOAD PROPERTIES to hide some parts in a view.

Good luck with your project deadline.

An alternative method to Jack's is if your shape is made around different planes then you can create a new part, add the planes you want, then add that part to the assembly then you should just be able to create sketches around the planes you added to the part.

I think this might be more beneficial for when you want to draft individual parts but I've not tried Jack's method so I can't be certain.
