Using solenoid actuator to lock a component but solenoid actuator should be placed perpendicular to the locking movement.

The simplest solution is a ninety degree bellcrank. Depending on the load a good source is a hobby shop specializing in RC cars and airplanes. Plenty of options for rod ends and turnbuckle rods if you need to adjust things.
Of course if the load is heavier the components will have to be scaled up.
