How to locate the first part of assembly i.e. base, at the origin (0,0,0) in Solid Works 2014

I want to locate the base at (0,0,0) so that I can measure the coordinates of the end point of my assembly.

Hi, if it is a new assembly that you are creating, then when you add the first component, do not click the background (as this will place it); simply click the tick and it should be automatically placed on the origin and fixed in position - with the little (f) symbol in the tree.
If it is an existing assembly, you can make sure that no component is fixed - anything with the (f), by right clicking on it and pressing 'float' (I think it's float). Then you can use the "mate" command to 'mate' the origin of the base component to the origin of the assembly...
