It's very simple. make a helix around the bolt. Place a plane at the bottom of the helix. draw a square profile on it. make it coincident with the helix and then sweep it.

You can control the start angle of the helix, you can set the angle so that it crosses a standard plane, 0 degrees, 90 degrees etc. will save you having to create the additional plane.
