Porous scaffold

Hi! I am currently doing my Master's final project, which will consist of a 3D printed scaffold for tissue regeneration.
As so, I need to design in Solidworks the scaffold using a design similar to the photos attached. However, I'm not sure how to do that, do I need to do it layer-by-layer and then extrude it or there is a simpler method?

Thanks in advance!

Your best option would be to extrude one layer, then extrude the next layer at 90 degrees. Then use a pattern to create the additional layers. Part of this process will depend if the layers are intersecting or not. Once you have all the layers, then you can sketch the profile to cut the layers and cut the outer shape similar to the example picture.
