Solidworks Component "Configuration" and "linear Component Pattern" problem

Hi there,

I ran into a problem with Assembly in solidworks if someone can give me some tips

I have a component with Configuration settings of various Height changes. This component is in a sub- assembly, and this Sub-assembly is used in a final assembly, which it is copied or Array in Linear Component Pattern.

i want to change and set each of the array components in different various lengths from its configuration, but for some reason, solidworks just sync all the copies into same configuration when i try to change them individually.

is there any way to fix this problem from setting?

please see attached.

Thanks

If you are trying to 'Direct Edit' the parts within the sub-assembly by clicking on them and changing the part's configuration, then that change will happen across all sub-assemblies.

What you need to do is to make sure you've created all the configurations you require within the sub-assembly first.

Then you can choose these configurations by selecting the sub-assembly in the tree.

I think it's because the subassembly is patterned. Solidworks thinks you want a bunch of exactly the same thing.

If you 'dissolve pattern' first, they will be treated individually, allowing you to set each of the configurations separately, but they'll be unconstrained so take care not to nudge any of them out of position, or 'fix' them in position to make them stay put. (or add assembly constraints to each of them individually, ugh!)
