Ive used ANSYS INC. @ university quite a good piece of software

Fluent is best. There are other softwares like WindUs etc..

I recommenced Fluent. You can also try Solidworks FlowSimulation. It is very easy to learn and use.

Fluent is the best, The ANSYS V13 package has it included with a good pre-processing software.

I can recommend SimScale. It’s a cloud-based tool where simulations can be setup using just a browser. It does not need the hassle of licenses or installations. The CFD part of SimScale is based on OpenFOAM. The job is created using teh browser and eventually submitted to the cloud. Once the simulation has finished the run, you can download the results or do the post-processing online as well.

A free version is offered with up to 3000 hours/year for computing. For the free version, the projects created are public. However, if one would prefer to keep the projects as private, a professional version is also available. There is also a two-week free trial for the professional version.

The tutorials and materials provides comprehensive help with usage of SimScale platform. In addition, you can explore the public projects database, where there are loads of projects already available. For any help & if you get stuck with your project, you can write on the Forum too and they are quite happy to reply with help & ideas.

In my opinion the best option for cfd analysis is the QuickerSim CFD Toolbox for Matlab. It’s very flexible and you can adapt it to your own needs. It’s easy to learn and great for beginners, because you can see all the maths behind it and understand how the whole thing is working.

You can get a free version here: http://quickersim.com/cfdtoolbox/download/
