I personally see that solidworks is very effective for all your projects

I have read all the questions and answers but I have seen nothing mentioned about Auto desk Alias...
Why is that?
is it people don't think it is a good surface modelling software?
people have never used it?
hard to learn?

SolidWork :)))

why Pro/E is out of the race?

for surface modeling CATIA and NX only.. NX bit easy than Catia. and if u want to make more complex sufaces use 3D MAX..

pro/E is very much in race but learing PRO/E is not easy for everyone....

$olidWork$ & CATIA

As i see no one point to Alias Autodesk Automotive that is for Class A surfaces.
this software is one of the best and eisiest softwares for surface modeling.
just have some search about it and get it my words r right.

pro/E s not tat suitable for Surface modelling, 'cos to design an Aesthetic piece like car body,It 'll take helluva lot of time..so pro/E s outta race//

where you have better skills

I myself use SolidWorks and Rhino for making surfaces. As fateh Merrad mentioned, SolidWorks will do just fine, in most cases. In the other cases, I use Rhinoceros.

In the end, there is no 'best' surface modeling program. Only programs you like and programs you don' t like or haven' t tried yet.

ProE is out for surface modelling ???... I'm using every day and it's very fine with it. Besides ProE Mech. standard package they do also have additional packages for specific applications (eg advance surfacing, pipiping, metalsheet, thermodynamics, etc.) so one could get exactly according to what's he needs.
SW should be also fine (actually very very similar to ProE).
I remember Catia of many years ago but I believe it's very fine too.
Conclusion : I believe they are all valid softwares for surface modellings (as well as solids).
I'm personally using ProE since 15years on daily basis and very happy with it but I recognize SW and Catia are also very valid/comparable options.
through the years, all those softwares had little improvements here and there but, at the end of the day, what was ProE (basic package) of 10 years ago it's basically the same today... the basic software structure is always the same and won't drastically change for long time yet.

Alias, if you have the time to learn it. I've used SW also but Alias is superior because that's what it's made for.

for surface modeling NX only NX is the best

NX is the best

Pro/E is not good in Surface modeling. You can try Unigraphics

exactly now i'am thinking to pass from Inventor 2011 to Pro/E Wildfire , is it simply , pro/E ?
