Change the Measurement units in SolidWorks

  1. Step 1: Start SolidWorks

    In SolidWorks, the unit system plays a crucial role in maintaining consistency and accuracy throughout the design process. To ensure that dimensions and measurements are interpreted correctly, it is essential to set the appropriate unit system for the current project.



    This can be done using the following setup as well.

    Method 1: Using Document Properties

    1. Open the Document Properties dialog box by clicking on Tools > Options.
    2. Navigate to the Document Properties tab and select the Units and Material Properties category.
    3. Under the Units section, choose the desired unit system from the drop-down list.
    4. Adjust the precision settings as needed by entering the desired number of decimal places in the Precision boxes.
    5. Click the OK button to apply the changes and close the dialog box.

    Method 2: Using the Units Popup Menu

    1. Locate the Units button in the bottom right corner of the SolidWorks interface.
    2. Click on the Units button to expand the popup menu.
    3. Select the desired unit system from the list of available options.
    4. The unit system will be immediately updated in the SolidWorks environment.
