How to design simple patterned roller

How to design simple patterned roller on catia with generative sheetmetal design.

1. Step 1: First

   Open the generative sheet metal design on the catia and set the sheet metal parametrs.

   

   
   

   

   
   

   
   

   It's not important but at least 2 mm is enough.

   Then draw a circle on sketch and exit workbench.

   

   If you want can edit constraint.

   After that click on the Rolled wall and give length and click ok.

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

2. Step 2: 3D

   

   
   

   

   
   

   Now click on the Fold/Unfold to unfold the sheet.

   

   Click on the surface and go to the sketch.

   

   If you like to have bulging you should draw the line around the sheet.

   You can use project 3d elements. Select one by one the around lines.

   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

3. Step 3: Drawing patterns

   Now you can draw what shapes and designs you want on the sheet metal.

   Be attention to don't draw a shape on the middle line (rolled place)

   

   Draw what you want and exit from sketch.

   Now click on the "Cut out" i showed in the picture above.

   

   Now select on type "sheetmetal" pocket.

   Then select "dimension" and click on "reverse side"

   

   Give 1mm on depth.

   Click ok.

   

   

   Shaped sheet is now ready to roll.

   Now click again on "fold/unfold" to fold the sheet.

   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

4. Step 4: Part design for draw shaft

   Go to the part design.

   

   Select the side of the sheet to draw on sketch.

   

   Draw circle or use "project 3D elements"

   Now exit from sketch.

   Use "pad" to give volume.

   

   Draw other circle on the both surfaces or on surface and give volume too.

   

   
   

   
   

   Patterned Roller is ready.
