Tutorial:-How to use "Structural Member in Weldments feature" in solidworks?

  1. Step 1:

    draw the sketch on which you want to create structural member.
    go to features then right click to get a drop down list then select "Weldments" options.

  2. Step 2:

    then select "Structural member"
    this options is used when ever you need to create a structure as in the real world. eg:-pipes,iron bend etc.

  3. Step 3:

    select the curves on which you have to create the structure.

  4. Step 4:

    there will be many options that you can select
    the standard can be changed from iso to ansi or
    type to other options
    the size of the respective type of structure.

  5. Step 5:

    you can select other options as how the corner should be and many more.

  6. Step 6:

    and at the bottom there is an option "locate profile".
    solid works gives us many options to where the profile should be there wrt your sketch

  7. Step 7:

    for each and every corner you can select how that corner should by just clicking on the corner.

  8. Step 8:

    lastly when you activate "Weldments" options "cut list" will come automatically the moment you change anything in the structure you need to update it.

  9. Step 9:

    right click the list and select update.
