A 3dof spherical mechanism is a type of parallel mechanism that has three degrees of freedom (dof) of rotation around a fixed point12. It consists of three limbs that connect a moving platform (end-effector) to a fixed base. The end-effector can rotate in any direction within a spherical workspace. 3dof spherical mechanisms have applications such as orienting devices, wrists, attitude tracking, and flight simulators.
