I more or less work as the assistant to the Patternshop supervisor, keeping tabs on our documentation and drawings as well as our pattern database. A lot of my job also involves reading engineering drawings as well as working with 3D models of pattern and core equipment. I also occasionally make models of equipment based on casting prints to help explain the molding process for reference, hence my interest in 3D modeling. In nearly all instances, I've found that it basically takes the same amount of time making those models with the wrong dimensions as it does the right dimensions, and with fewer headaches later.

I actually took a considerable amount of courses prior to this in Black Hawk College of Illinois, but unfortunately due to the lack of a computer science degree in CSC, I ended up taking courses that were more directed towards the Business and IT side of information systems rather than the raw development aspects of computer science.
