Edited with corrections based on response from Jackson. See post below.

Jackson Eckenrode was a staff member at GrabCAD who wrote for the blog. An article was written by him and shared in another discussion by Hans de Ridder called "Why are there rules???"

Here's a link to that article about our GC Superstar: MAB

I've been repeatedly trying to post a comment to that article today with no success. My comments are being actively censored by someone on the GC Blog team. I decided to reach out to Jackson, but he is no longer employed with GC. Here's my letter and Jackson's response is a post below:

Hello Jackson,

I'm writing to inform you that your piece on Mehmet Atalay Biçer (MAB) is very poorly researched. This man takes work from other websites and (very poorly) bashes it together to create "his work". You use phrases in your article like "prowess in CAD software" and "passion for CAD". This is one of my favorites, "The intricate nature of his designs show his mastery of CAD software."

I'm concerned that you haven't even looked at the work in his portfolio, or you are entirely ignorant of CAD in general. He doesn't demonstrate any skill beyond rendering. His models are very sloppy amalgamations of piece parts taken from ameede.com, stretched, scaled, or otherwise deformed to be bashed together with the rectangles and cylinders that he can actually draw.

He selectively credits ameede.com on certain models, but never provides a direct link to the parts he ripped from there. He haphazardly slaps these parts together in configurations that would never produce a functioning product in real life, or worse, would seriously injure or kill someone if produced.

MAB also has a very close following of members that actively like his submissions just minutes after upload. This is to the point that the vast majority of his work now has more likes than downloads. I challenge you to look at the average GrabCAD account with quality content and find a model with more likes than downloads. I'll save you the time and tell you that you won't...

The main reason for me writing to you directly on the matter is that either you or someone is actively suppressing my comments on your article, preventing the truth from coming out. I'd like to know why GC is so invested in protecting a fraud and "his work". I will also be posting this message publicly in the GrabCAD Community User Group for all to see that you have been contacted on the matter. There are several of us looking for action and accountability in this community and we has been dealing with one staffer who isn't even responsible for the community side of GC, but refuses to get the proper individuals involved.

Take care,

Steven
