The most important issue till now on GrabCAD is "Mentioning" ...
Till now comments still don't support mentioning, as well as other places (I've said comments because they're the most relevant places)
My opinion is to make all mentions by adding @ before the name, and to use this method in :
And please do it soon
Thanks Yahya T Khedr, great suggestion! Can you elaborate a bit more, do you want to use mentions just for referencing or should they also trigger a notification? (or even an email)
Both...
I want it to be just like Facebook; it sends the tagged person a notification (emails aren't that popular), and I want all mentioning methods to be united into one method (adding @ before the name)
Thanks
Please do not make GrabCAD LIKE Facebook.
I only want "mentioning" to work like in Facebook, and of course I don't want GrabCAD to be like Facebook.
I've gathered all possible ways of mentioning here in GrabCAD in this tutorial...
It did take me ages to finish; as I had to test each possible way every single place, but I'm proud of myself.
Hope you find it useful
Thanks for the tutorial, we're currently in the process of making it easier to mention members in Groups!
@yahya.t.khedr-2 We have now implemented @mention functionality in Groups. Try typing someone's name with "@" in front, a popover should appear with suggestions when you stop typing for (less than) a second. If there's any issues or bugs, let us know!
AWESOME!!!
Can't wait to see it applied in all GrabCAD
Can't the hyperlinked text be the user's name, instead of his URL???
Amazing work from @tambet.masik-1 @ahti.naruson-1 and @johannes.siig-2. Its great to finally have Mentions.
We thoroughly considered both options when speccing this feature out, and whilst it'd make sense for a smaller community with fewer members, since we do have over five million members nowadays – and Groups is gaining traction, and many users share the same name, it's hopefully clearer who is mentioned if we use the URL "slug" (or "username") rather than the full name.
Thanks for your explanation.
Mentioning in tutorials needs some improvement, too.
In the tutorial's description and comments, you'll have to copy the user's profile URL, then paste it in the tutorial's comment. It too will be shown - outside "writing mode" - as the user's name.
Models too are linked in the same way:
Copy the model's URL, then paste it in the tutorial's comment. It will also be shown as the model's name.
GrabCAD has somehow forgotten to turn hyperlinked text into blue, but clicking on it will still open the hyperlinked page.
See the last comment here.
In steps, you'll have to write the user's name, select it and click the "attachment" button (the one looking like a paperclip)
Now paste the user's URL in the box that appeared.
If you don't receive the email within an hour (and you've checked your Spam folder), email us as confirmation@grabcad.com.
