It is getting worse.....every day more and more spam...I know for a fact that Yasin (staff) is working very hard in cleaning up, he reacts very quickly on comments regarding spam...but it looks like he is fighting windmills....now even this user group is overrun by SPAMMERS...Perhaps the GC team (if still present) can help Yasin in "his Battle" and come up with a solution for this very rapidly growing problem...
Right on Hans. I'm thinking of moving on from this site as its becoming irrelevant.
Solution: Do not let new members post or comment for 5 days. 99% of all spam comes from brand new members. If spammers had to wait several days after making an account they likely won’t bother coming back.
Great Idea Bob, and lets be honnest, the most NEW members are only here for the "GRABBING"......
No, the wait period doesn't have an effect on bots (which is what these accounts are). They need account verification and a downvote system.
If a member is getting consistently downvoted, their content goes invisible to the rest of the site. If they want to post visibly again, they must delete all of their downvoted content. Make it a threshold of >50% downvote. And if the member has an account downvote rating of >50%, they are not allowed to downvote any content. This will prevent retaliation votes.
Many bots are programmed to operate quickly and can't tolerate a waiting period. While it may not rid the system of all spam it would definitely help.
There needs to be a balance between preventing spam and a good user experience. But as Hans essentially pointed out, new members aren't contributing to the community in any reasonable way. New members show up on GC and treat it like ChatGPT or Google; looking for quick answers to nonsensical questions or looking for someone to do their homework. Rarely showing back up after their initial question.
GrabCAD obviously has a system that has no safeguards against new members blowing the system away with spam. And it has gotten completely out of hand lately. It's like word is out that spammers have an easy target with GC.
I agree with most of that, but implementing more passive solutions is not going to fix the problem. In an effort to make this website a "polite" and "professional" community, all forms of criticism are absent. If a model is terrible, where is the dislike button? If a post is terrible, where is the thumbs down, or negative emoji option? If a tutorial is trash, where is the "unhelpful" button? This is a website where people provide content. Where is the review option?
There is no way for the community to self-regulate content based on quality because we are inherently disallowed from providing negative feedback. The administrators are entirely absent, which means that no one is regulating this site. All of this is to say that social ostracism is not only a good thing for maintaining a healthy community, but essential for keeping content quality high and eliminating trash content.
A voting system would allow for this to happen with minimal admin intervention. If the stratasys team wants to keep collecting passive income on our backs, then let us moderate ourselves.
This is just amazing...haha

^^^ Speaking of spam
unfortunately this guy is spamming a lot of groups and a lot of topics inside the groups and posting contact data
it seem that he is neither able to read nor to use his brain
sorry sir i didn't know you are talking about SPAM i thought you are talking about special purpose machine called SPM
When you make an off-topic, copy-and-paste, response to a dozen unrelated topics, it is called SPAM.
Read the posts and comments before adding your comments. That way you can stay on topic.
Please, in the future, pick one relevant topic and respond or post there. We all see all of your posts. There is no need for more than one.
Sorry sir I didn't know about this above I will take care and work on it yet I have created a new profile in Grabcad sorry for my mistake
You break a lot of rules with your posts and models. You post contact information which is explicitly against GrabCAD guidelines. You post all your models with nothing more than a placeholder assembly and no parts. All for the purpose of advertising your models for sale. You spam the groups. Do you realize you are what is wrong with GrabCAD?
You advertise your services yet you show by your actions that you can not follow basic instructions.
There's no such thing. Your account consists of stolen work from various manufacturers. If this isn't true, upload the models, so I can look at the meta data. If you refuse, then you're library should be deleted for lack of models to begin with.
I deleted & blocked this user now.

This might work, but only for a short time. These spammers usually automate things. The moment they realize a change, they just change their code and adapt. It should be easy on their side to auto-create an account, wait for 5 days, and then post a spam content.
> GrabCAD obviously has a system that has no safeguards against new members blowing the system away with spam
This is simply not true. We have some systems which are catching most of the spam content, around few hundreds a day.... The ones you are seeing are the uncaught ones.
Now, I'm not saying our antispam systems are perfect, far from it. We (especially the team developing this community) know about this already. We already have some ideas for improvement and planning to release them later this year.

This is also one of the things we are actually considering.
