That's pretty cool. I've been meaning to start building models of instruments myself. I make guitars by hand but hope to get a CNC router soon and start programming.
I returned to school for CNC programming and looking to graduate this spring. I'm a machinist by trade.
Here is a link to a simple open back banjo
Back in the 1970's a friend and me made a few of these out of some old brass strips we found in the back of the store at work. The first two were one each so we could take a banjo each out into the wild when tramping and hunting. Later we built a few for friends. When I modeled this I was looking at some 4mm aluminum offcuts at work and thought they would be good for banjo bodies. I could cut them to size in the guillotine and run the blanks through the CNC turret punch for the holes and made some quite easily so i made a drawing of the body, but never got around to it before I retired.
There are a few good guitar and violin models on grabcad also some models of hurdy gurdy's
Electric guitars of the Leo Fender type are great for CNC routing. Fender guitars are a great example of, not only good musical instrument design, but excellent industrial design.
Today I finished my first "big" project: my six stringed bass guitar I've been playing for about 7 years now and I hope you folks enjoy it!
Hey fellow members, I'm designing guitars and bass for fun ! here is my last creation ! Enjoy
This is an excellent model of a Gibson A4 mandolin https://grabcad.com/library/gibson-a4-mandolin by Al Trice. It is a good model reflecting how Gibson actually makes them
