I am not expert but as i know it is not possible becoze it work on color so it will not give you exact length if any method you know u can tell

I’ve done something like this before. I think you have to convert the picture to Adobe Photoshop format then you can import the picture, perhaps maybe only as a background picture but then you can create a new sketch and trace the picture with the sketching tools, line, arc, etc... When all the lines are connected you’ll be able to extrude it.

Can you post the image, or something similar so we can see what you are working with?

AutoTrace is sort of terrible, so I'd suggest using something else. The workflow will be vastly different depending on the image you are working with.

Without seeing the image, I'd try:

Using a photo editing program to find/highlight the edges in the photo. Running the photo through a program to convert the raster image, to a vector format.

Photoshop, and Vector Magic are the tools I'm most familiar with, but there are other programs which accomplish the same tasks.

To do this kind just invert the image. Then black and white areas are inverted to white and black respectively. This can be done on windows paint.

i am using paint.net which is a free program, simple and effective.

Actually its a sample which i tried with approximate values but i need its exact radius values of those fillets and bends etc

So try and convey ur thoughts on the methods on how can i measure that values.

For knowing radius and other dimension, first you need to take picture of all views (Front, top,....) and calibrate those image. Like you mark some known dimension say 10 cm. On tracer set line you have drawn as 10 cm and you may be able to find approximate dimensions or you may even replicate this. Try. Good Luck.

I doubt you'll be able to measure values, or make a duplicate from that photo. GIGO comes to mind. GIGO stands for "garbage in, garbage out"

To begin with good data, take another photo of the door:

• The door needs to be flat against a wall, or lying flat on the floor.
• The camera needs to be directly inline with the object to minimize perspective
• A scale should be included in the photo. Or a reference measurement needs to be taken from the door. The longer the reference, the better. Overall length, or width are good starting points.

If this is the only photo available, and more can't be taken, you can try to correct for the perspective in the image, but without more information, it is simply a guess if the results are correct. A reference for size is still needed as well.

I made the image below which is flatter, but I doubt it is perfect. It is better, and could be used as a starting point:

I'd start over, but if you had to, you could import this into CAD, then manually trace around it with lines and arcs. When done, the sketch can be converted into a block for easy scaling if a size reference is obtained. From there, print the sketch on paper, transfer it to cardboard, then cut a duplicate. Then test the cardboard duplicate against the original, or try to fit it in whatever opening it is meant for. Adjustments can be made from there.

Taking a new photo is a much better option though.

2 very important things: the photo must as little as possible distort the object. For this you have to photograph as far as possible, zoom in and make sure that the lens is perpendicular to the face of the object. Autotrace is not suitable for specific shapes. Only use it for organic elements. Rather use it as a sketch image and redraw the outlines taking care to best size the sketch image. When you have the object in hand it is easy to use the sketch image and correct the drawing by raising the dimensions yourself. A well done tracing is better than the object itself!

Many applications incorporate "autotrace" functions. But none can give back exactly what we expect. It is better to reserve this tool for lots of drawings such as human silhouettes or trees for example. Even if the image the tool is parametric to wish, it remains nonetheless that it is to build segments from pixels and that makes the exercise hazardous. The majority of autotrace users sacrifice precision which is rarely a good thing in design and engineering. Believe me it becomes easier and faster to trace yourself a sketch image than to try to adjust the image to satify the autotrace! Finally, who will decide the plot, you or the autotrace?
