You can import several formats, like or iges. I believe, i have read about a converting prof. Converting tool.

which kind of format? igs\step..... you can open it in catia v5 directly and save them to catia v5 format....if the file is catia v4 format(*.model), open the file in catia v5, select and copy the master(from the tree) create a new part paste the copied elements to new part updata and save the file.....Ok
