You could use sweep -> protrusion or sweep -> thin protrusion command for piping roll cage. when there are bends or sharp turns, this option is useful.
If you want to connect other than the sharp turns you could use Insert -> Advanced -> Pipe option to create pipe between two or more points. Pipe option could not create sharp turns while sweep could
