Scale partbody and show parameters in Assembly Design

I have a CATpart for a perfume bottle with parameters and rules such that the main parameter "Model= 1,2,3,4" can make the part change between 4 designs.

I want to place that perfume bottle in a shelf in Assembly Design and have access to the "Model" parameter from there.

Additionally I want to scale that part trying different factors until it fits my shelf the way I like.

How do I do those two things without going back to the CATpart?

Thank you.

Accepted answer

Open the Assembly and the Part.

In the Assembly, Copy the parameters you want to share

Switch to the Part, and Paste Special - As Result With Link. (you now have "Links")

Once you have the parameters copied into the Part, edit the features that use the parameter and edit the values so they use the linked parameters.

(let me know if you have any questions/problems - chances are you need me make some changes to your Tools + Options to get this to work)

a couple things to note:
- when working with Links, always use FILE + SAVE MANAGEMENT to save, rename, move the files
- after changing the Scaling parameter in the Assembly, I think you have to open the Part and Update it in order to get the new value to take effect (I have to verify this later, when I have access to CATIA)

I'm having a hard time understanding your quesiton.

In CATIA V5, Parts define the shape and size of things. Assemblies define the relative positions of a collection of parts. (the Assembly workbench has no tools to modilfy the shape or size of parts).
