Can I performe a swept cut with solid bodies in SW?

tutorial

  1. Step 1:

First you create a part and sketch a path on it (shown in the picture)

  2. Step 2:

Than you create a plane where you will create a solid body that will be used as a swept cut tool.

  3. Step 3:

You must be careful when creating a solid body because the solid body must be placed partly inside the other body. Also, in order to make things work the swept cut tool can only be created as a revoled boss part. If you try to use any other method of creating the swept cut body the swept cut feature will fail. Also, when you revolve a profile of the swept cut body you must uncheck the” merge result”.

  4. Step 4:

Activate the swept cut tool and select “solid sweep”

  5. Step 5:

The feature manager is asking you to select the tool body and a path

  6. Step 6:

    :)

  7. Step 7:

After clicking ok you have your swept cut performed and SolidWorks removes the tool body.
