Tutorial - Creating Bottle using surface techniques in SolidWorks?

Here is the tutorial

  1. Step 1:

    Start SolidWorks in part mode.

  2. Step 2:

Top Plane>>sketch and draw an ellipse with vertical axis 30 and horizontal axis 65.

  3. Step 3:

    Extrude Surface it by 150mm.

  4. Step 4:

Front plane sketch and draw two symmetric arcs like these.

  5. Step 5:

Under surfaces tab choose trim surfaces. Select the Sketch2 as trimming tool in standard trimming and remove the two side surfaces.

  6. Step 6:

Under surfaces tab choose lofted surface.

  7. Step 7:

Select the two right edges of the surfaces and change the start and end constraint to tangency to face. Click OK

  8. Step 8:

Repeat the same step for the other two edges.

  9. Step 9:

    Front plane>>Sketch and draw arc.

  10. Step 10:

Again trim surface and use the sketch3 as the trimming tool and remove the bottom surfaces.

  11. Step 11:

Under surfaces tab choose filled surfaces.

  12. Step 12:

Select the lower edges of the surface and Click OK.

  13. Step 13:

Again front plane>>sketch and draw an arc of this type.

  14. Step 14:

Extrude surface it in both direction by 40mm each.

  15. Step 15:

Under surfaces tab choose knit surfaces and select all surfaces except the extruded surface. Click OK.

  16. Step 16:

Select trim surface in surfaces tab and select mutual trim type. Select the knit surface and extruded surface and remove the outer surfaces of the intersection. Click OK.

  17. Step 17:

    Choose Fillet.

  18. Step 18:

Select the upper edge and fillet it by a radius of 4mm.

  19. Step 19:

Now select the lower edge and fillet it by 2mm.

  20. Step 20:

Top Plane>>Sketch and draw a circle of radius 20mm at the origin.

  21. Step 21:

Select the section view about the front plane.

  22. Step 22:

Extrude surface the circle at a height of 180mm.

  23. Step 23:

Now select the trim surface in surfaces tab and trimming type mutual. Select the extrude surface and the bottle surface.

  24. Step 24:

Remove the lower surface of the circular extrude surfaces.

  25. Step 25:

Fillet the edge of the mouth of the bottle by 4mm.

  26. Step 26:

Thicken the body by using thicken in surfaces tab by a distance of 2mm inside direction. Click OK.

  27. Step 27:

Now we have the bottle created using surface modelling.
