Tutorial - Modeling Container using Surfacing in SolidWorks?

Here is the tutorial.

  1. Step 1:

    Top plane>>Sketch.

  2. Step 2:

    Draw this profile.

  3. Step 3:

    Extrude it.

  4. Step 4:

    Reference geometry>>plane.

  5. Step 5:

    Top plane by 70mm.

  6. Step 6:

    Plane1>>Sketch.

  7. Step 7:

    Draw a circle.

  8. Step 8:

    Exit the sketch. Lofted surface.

  9. Step 9:

Select the circle and the edges of the extruded surface as the loop using selection manager.

  10. Step 10:

    Tangency to face.

  11. Step 11:

    Click OK. Again Plane1>>Sketch.

  12. Step 12:

Select the edge and then convert entities.

  13. Step 13:

    Extrude it.

  14. Step 14:

    Front Plane>>Sketch.

  15. Step 15:

    Draw this profile using spline.

  16. Step 16:

    Trim it in half.

  17. Step 17:

Draw another spline tangent to this one.

  18. Step 18:

    Revolve surface it.

  19. Step 19:

    Trim surface.

  20. Step 20:

    Trim away the outer surfaces.

  21. Step 21:

    Knit surface.

  22. Step 22:

Select all surface and uncheck gap control. Check merge entities.

  23. Step 23:

    Fillet.

  24. Step 24:

Select the edge of the extruded-surface2.

  25. Step 25:

    Thicken.

  26. Step 26:

Select the surface and thicken it outside.

  27. Step 27:

And we have the basic surface of the container.
