How to FDM Print for Part Sliding Clearance

13 4 Intermediate
If you are 3D printing parts that have to fit/slide together after printing, you will need to put some sort of clearance between those parts in your CAD system. A good starting place is a clearance 2x the layer height you are going to print at, but you should make a few smaller test prints at different clearances to see if the 2x layer height rule holds for your particular situation and orientation. Have fun and happy printing!

1. OPTIONS 1.1. Orienting Parts for Assemblies Before making design alterations it is important to have a strategy for the build orientation. Orientation of the mating components can affect the fit of the assembly and will determine the necessary clearances.

3D Printing CAD STL Export Settings for no segments

0 1 Beginner
3D printing is booming–big time. And since most 3D printers accept STL exports, engineers are using the export format more and more. I’ve experimented with 3D printing using different settings of the STL export format. In this Video, I’ll share my experiences with you. For the sake of accuracy, for these tests I used NX 11 and an Anycubic mega X 3D printer.

0 0 Intermediate
